Frequently asked questions
What is ACVO Membership?
ACVO Membership brings together organisations and individuals who want to be part of a stronger, more connected and influential third sector in Aberdeen. Through membership, you can access opportunities to connect, collaborate, stay informed and contribute to the wider sector.
What types of ACVO Membership are available?
ACVO offers three membership options: Ordinary Membership for third sector organisations seeking additional benefits and voting rights, Campaigning Membership - our new free membership option for third sector organisations - and Associate Membership for individuals and statutory organisations who support ACVO's aims.
What is Ordinary Membership?
Ordinary Membership is ACVO’s full membership option for third sector organisations. It includes voting rights at ACVO’s AGM, exclusive member benefits, discounted services, priority access to events, online resources and a profile in ACVO’s Membership Directory.
How much does Ordinary Membership cost?
Ordinary Membership fees are based on your organisation’s annual turnover: * Under £100,000: £25 per year * £100,000–£500,000: £50 per year * Over £500,000: £150 per year
Can we move from Campaigning to Ordinary Membership?
Yes. Organisations can move from Campaigning Membership to Ordinary Membership at any time to access additional member benefits, voting rights and opportunities.
What is Campaigning Membership?
Campaigning Membership is a new free membership option created to remove the barrier of cost for new and smaller organisations. It enables more groups to connect with ACVO, strengthen relationships across the sector and contribute to a stronger collective voice for Aberdeen’s third sector.
What is Associate Membership?
Associate Membership is for individuals who support ACVO’s aims and statutory organisations that want to stay connected with Aberdeen’s third sector. Associate Members are non-voting and do not appear in ACVO’s online Membership Directory.
Why has ACVO introduced Campaigning Membership?
The introduction of Campaigning Membership allows ACVO to connect with more third sector organisations, strengthen the collective voice of the sector and ensure smaller or newer groups can be part of Aberdeen’s third sector network without a financial barrier.
Do all membership types have voting rights?
No. Voting rights are exclusive to Ordinary Members. Campaigning and Associate Members are non-voting membership options.
How do I join or ask a question?
Choose the membership option that best suits you or your organisation and complete the online application form. For Ordinary Membership applications, ACVO will issue an invoice for the relevant annual membership fee after your application has been received. If you have any questions about membership, please contact ACVO at enquiries@acvo.org.uk
